KAYA vs. Bear

The following review was conducted by the KAYA Sleep, Inc. employees, and as such we realize cannot be completely objective. However, great efforts were made to present the factual information as is, as we believe in the importance of transparency.

Bear is an all-foam mattress with 4 layers of foam. It includes two types of cooling technology. The first is embedded in its mattress cover, while the second is embedded in the graphite gel used in the top layer of foam. This all-foam mattress comes with free shipping, returns, a 100-day trial and a 10-year warranty.

The KAYA mattress is a premium hybrid mattress, designed by sleep experts with years of experience. KAYA is constructed of 3 layers of the highest density foams available, with a pocketed coil core of over 1,000 springs. Its high-density foam layers provide top-notch support and durability, while its pocketed coil core takes care of body contouring, amazing Edge support, and minimal motion transfer. To top it all off, KAYA’s cover is infused with ThermoGel, which starts cooling when truly needed, and close to your skin, where it counts. A mattress of this quality, at such an affordable price, with a trial period of 120 days and a 20-year warranty, cannot be found anywhere else.

Best overall mattress – KAYA

While Bear has some good qualities, KAYA wins this contest due to its superior build, material quality, durability, warranty and trial period.

To learn why, scroll down and continue reading the more detailed comparison.

1. Materials/Durability

Before comparing the two, it is important to once again mention that KAYA is a premium hybrid mattress, while Bear is a great all-foam mattress. This means that while KAYA utilizes the advantages of both foams and coils, Bear had decided to focus on foams only. Because of that, we will compare KAYA’s top foam layers to Bear’s top layers, and point the differences between KAYA’s base layer of top-grade steel, pocketed coil layer, to Bear’s base layer of HD Support Foam.

Pitting KAYA’s foam layers against Bear’s, it is evident that KAYA has the distinct advantage. As we know, when comparing foams, density is highly important. In the first layer, KAYA’s quality surpasses Bear, with its higher density foam of 5-PCF density over 1″. Bear’s top layer is impressive nonetheless, with 4-PCF of density over 1″, yet not as good as KAYA’s superb top layer. Moving on to the second layer, KAYA continues to use higher density foam of 4 PCF measuring 2″, which is a thicker cut than Bear’s 1.5″, 3-PCF 2nd layer. In the third layer, Bear catches up a bit with its 1″ 3-PCF Foam against KAYA’s 1″, 2-PCF Foam. Still, KAYA has the advantage in the key layers, with 3″ of better density as opposed to Bear’s 0.5″.

As mentioned earlier, KAYA’s base layer is completely different than Bear’s. In this layer, KAYA uses over 1,000 top-grade steel, pocketed coils for air flow, edge support and minimizing motion transfer. It is important to also note that such coils are known for their longevity and durability. Combined with its high-density foams, the KAYA mattress excels in durability. Meanwhile, Bear’s base layer is the standard at 1.8-PCF (usually the minimum recommended density for such layers), and is foam only. Nevertheless, some people prefer the all-foam feel, and if you do too, it is indeed worth considering.

Lastly, the cooling aspect is excellent in both mattresses, each utilizing two cooling mechanisms. Both acknowledge the importance of cooling as close as it gets to your skin – KAYA with its Active ThermoGel infused cover, and Bear with its Celliant® infused cover. Additionally, KAYA has the benefits of a pocketed coil base which allows great airflow and is known for being cooler than foam, while Bear has its Graphite Gel Foam in its top layer, designed for cooling.

To conclude, when it comes down to foam density and its smart hybrid design that incorporates pocketed coils, KAYA has some very clear advantages over Bear. While Bear has strong points and is a great mattress in its own right, KAYA has the better build and made from better material.

Summary

Without a doubt, KAYA stands out as the winning mattress. The combination of high quality densities, its cooling technology, and its individually pocketed coils places KAYA in a higher class of mattresses compared to Bear. Its unbeatable foam densities of 5, 4, and 2 make it difficult for Bear to compete with 4, 3, and 1.8 densities. KAYA includes over 1,000 individually pocketed coils to enhance your sleeping experience, minimize motion transfer, create durability and more edge support.

Both mattresses fare strongly against one another, as both KAYA and Bear have included unique cooling technology that are both effective. While KAYA uses cooling technology in its cover, the air that passes through its coils continues to cool off the sleeper. Meanwhile, Bear uses cooling technology in its cover, as well as its top layer of graphite gel.

While both mattresses have tackled the cooling effect for their respective products, KAYA is the superior mattress in terms of luxury, quality, and overall better sleeping experience.
